Beliefs Statement
The South Gibson County Elementary School Counseling Department believes that an exemplary school counseling program should:
1. Be an integral part of the total school program.
2. Equip students with the skills necessary for them to achieve their post secondary and career goals.
3. Utilize a team approach which includes parents, teachers, administration and community
agencies to eliminate barriers in school achievement.
4. Conduct activities that contribute to the development of a positive school climate.
5. Recognize students' individual abilities and assist them in maximizing their potentials.
6. Help students develop a healthy self-concept and an acceptance of individual differences.
7. Link programs with opportunities for students outside of the school.
8. Include the participation of teachers and parents because of their direct involvement with
students on a daily basis.

10. Strive for professional excellence through continued study, participation in professional
organizations and workshops.

Mission Statement
The mission of the South Gibson County Elementary School Counseling Department is to support our administration, teachers, parents and community organizations in preparing all SGC Elementary School students to be college and career ready citizens by providing them a safe, caring learning environment in which to develop their academic, cognitive, career and social emotional skills.
Vision Statement
The vision of the South Gibson County Elementary School Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive counseling program that addresses the academic, social and emotional needs of all students. Through advocacy, leadership, and collaboration our counselors are professional student advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement. In partnership with our stakeholders, SGCES counselors will facilitate and coordinate a multi-tiered support system to ensure that all students are prepared and have access to knowledge and skills necessary to become globally competitive, lifelong learners.
